Christmas Eve

Richard worked in the morning on Christmas Eve, but was home by about 1:00.  We went to Subway for lunch and then went home for a bit.

We went to the 4:00 Christmas Eve service at one of the local mega churches.  We enjoyed feeling the spirit of Christmas and focusing on Christ during that time.  Soren loved all the music.

After the service we went home and opened up our traditional Christmas Eve pajamas, at dinner and watched "Polar Express".

Christmas Party

The Early Childhood PTA organization that Soren and I are a part of had their annual Christmas party at a local gymnastics facility.  We had a great time and Soren loved all the running and jumping.

The Rest of our Austin Weekend

The thing to do in Austin for Christmas is to decorate one of the trees near the road.  So on Friday morning that is what the crew set out to do (I stayed home because I was feeling pretty sick that day), and they had a great time.  Then they went and enjoyed some ice cream after.

Saturday morning we walked to the park.  About 2/3 of the way there, Soren sat down on his bike and when I asked him what he was doing he said "I need to take a break."  He has said that several times since...obviously I say that a lot these days.  :)

Then the kids got to watch Toy Story while the adults played games.

Thanksgiving Day

Richard's family has a tradition of going on a hike every Thanksgiving morning.  It is something that his dad really looks forward to and now he loves sharing this tradition with his grandkids.

I stayed behind and helped get food prepared.  I am not much of a hiker anyway, and needless to say I wasn't interested in going at 8 months pregnant.  But I enjoy staying behind and helping Richard's mom with the Thanksgiving meal preparations.

We had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner at Carolyn and Tyler's house.  And after dinner they heated up the hot tub for everybody to enjoy. The kids got in way before the water was warmed up and enjoyed every second of it.  The adults joined once the water was actually hot.  :)

After swimming and playing it was about bedtime and Susan was happy to take the kids all back to her house and put them to bed so that the rest of us could stay and play games.

We had a fantastic family Thanksgiving!

Austin Zoo

We headed down to Austin for the Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday, so we were able to enjoy Wednesday morning at the Austin Zoo with Richard's parents, sister and her little boy Tate.  We had a great time, Soren loves seeing all of the animals and is really into seeing all the different species.  He has been looking at the zoo pictures on my phone and keeps telling me "I saw the animals with Tate."  We love being able to do fun things with Richard, it is always extra special since he is usually at work.
