Halloween Festivities
Soren had been insistent for months that he wanted to be a dragon for Halloween, but of course two days before Halloween, thanks to Little Einsteins, he decided that he wanted to be a good knight. So to costume making town I went. I think they turned out pretty good for being last minute and minimal. :)
We went to a PTA trunk or treat -- which ended up being done inside of a church gym due to rain.
Then we went to our ward party where they had chili, hot dogs, and carnival games.
Saturday morning we headed to downtown Carrollton to trick or treat around the businesses then went to lunch with all of our friends.
For Halloween night we headed over to a friends neighborhood.
We had a great time and Soren was in heaven with all of the candy he got. And so were we -- he doesn't like chocolate so we get to eat all of the good stuff! Apparently we trained him well.
Fish Head
Richard and I are not much for dressing up on Halloween. But Richard loves to peruse Yahoo News each day and found a site where they sell patterns for some pretty intense masks. You buy the pdf, print it, and then paste it onto empty cereal boxes. After you paste them on you cut and fold all the different pieces and put them together. This is what he ended up with, it was very labor intensive and worth every minute.

Soren is obsessed with the Perot museum and we have annual passes so we are there a lot. And by a lot I mean like every other week. Needless to say we have gotten our moneys worth.

Mall Time
It rained a lot while dad was here this time so we did a lot of indoor activities. We decided to go eat lunch at the mall and let the boys play in the play area.

Ben Carson
One day I decided that we would go to Sam's Club to pick up a few things. Sam's is generally not horribly busy on a Tuesday afternoon. So much to my surprise the parking lot was PACKED, what in the world was going on? And then I saw it...the Ben Carson tour bus. Sure enough, Ben Carson was at Sam's Club signing his book. It was cool to happen upon that and took the opportunity to teach Soren a little bit about voting and what that means. He thought it was really cool to see somebody that could be the president.

Helping Hands
As an activity with our early childhood PTA group we had the opportunity to go to Helping Hands. It is a local organization that sends care packages around the world. Service has always been something that I love it is something that I want to teach my children to love. When we got there they read the kids a story and gave them a small snack. Then each kid got to decorate a box and fill it with items to send to a kid in a third world country. I loved this because Soren got to do it all himself, they have everything separated into bins and so you just pick one thing out of each bin and put it in the box. Love this and we will definitely be going back!
