So we have never really done a bedtime routine with Soren because quite frankly he didn't care and it was just too difficult and didn't seem necessary. He would just go straight from playing and running around to rolling over and falling asleep in his crib, no transition necessary.
But he is now old enough that he really NEEDS it, the last few nights he has been ANGRY about being so abruptly put in his crib (he is usually THRILLED to go to bed). So we decided it was time for a routine. We were not feeling too optimistic about how it would go, he doesn't generally cuddle or sit long enough to be read to. But we decided to go for it anyway (well, Richard does bedtime, so he did it and I took pictures because it was too cute!).
Soren sat in Richard's lap and let him read the entire book to him, this NEVER happens. I guess this is his way of telling us that he needs a few minutes to wind down before going to sleep. So Richard read the book and sure enough when Soren was put in his crib he was happy as could be and went right to sleep.
(It was hard to get a picture of Soren actually paying attention to the book because anytime he sees the camera he just laughs and puts on his biggest smile.)
