Everything is Bigger in Texas

There are a ton of Mega Churches here in our area.  So I did some research online and chose one of their Easter Egg Hunt/Family Days to go to.  The egg hunt started at 10am and there were 16,000 eggs, it was CRAZY!!!!  Each kid was told they could have about 12 eggs.

After the egg hunt there were all sorts of little carnival games, inflatables, food, etc, ALL FREE!!!  It was really fun, Soren got all sorts of fun little toys.  He was in heaven.

Playgroup

We love our playgroup!  We spent a beautiful morning playing with friends.

It is RIDICULOUSLY difficult to get five 1 year olds (and a 3 year old)
to stay in once place, let alone look at the camera...

Reading

He only reads the best, To Kill a Mockingbird.

Don't Be Fooled

Don't let his big "I see a camera so I need to put on a big smile" face fool you.  This kid was feeling miserable yesterday and today so we have spent the last two days doing a lot of this.  I can't say I didn't enjoy it.  If only we could do this when he wasn't feeling crummy...

Hunt #1

For church playgroup today we had an Easter egg hunt, it was a blast.  Soren loved walking around and putting the eggs in his bucket and he was thrilled to see there were things inside.  :)  I LOVE Easter  egg hunts!

Austin Fair

We went down to hang out with Richard's family in Austin for the weekend and we had a blast.  Carolyn and Tyler treated us all to the fair on Saturday.

We had fun,

Watching Mutton Busting

Not such a fan of the big creepy pig

Petting the animals

The goat was eating Richard's shirt
And eating pineapple whips (so delicious and dairy free!)

Ketchup, Please

Who needs multiple fries when all you really want to do is dip the same one over and over and over...

Nothing is Safe

No, I did not help him get up there...

Sitting in the cart is much more enjoyable when you have your buddy sitting next to you.

Hanging out (or trying to escape, take your pick) with Liam.

Blanket

Dad, I blame you...

Now every time he sees this blanket he wants to be swung in it. Luckily he doesn't realize that all blankets can be used as a swing...

So Funny

Apparently flicking cheerios across the kitchen is hilarious.

Time for a Routine

So we have never really done a bedtime routine with Soren because quite frankly he didn't care and it was just too difficult and didn't seem necessary.  He would just go straight from playing and running around to rolling over and falling asleep in his crib, no transition necessary.

But he is now old enough that he really NEEDS it, the last few nights he has been ANGRY about being so abruptly put in his crib (he is usually THRILLED to go to bed).  So we decided it was time for a routine.  We were not feeling too optimistic about how it would go, he doesn't generally cuddle or sit long enough to be read to.  But we decided to go for it anyway (well, Richard does bedtime, so he did it and I took pictures because it was too cute!).

Soren sat in Richard's lap and let him read the entire book to him, this NEVER happens.  I guess this is his way of telling us that he needs a few minutes to wind down before going to sleep.  So Richard read the book and sure enough when Soren was put in his crib he was happy as could be and went right to sleep.

(It was hard to get a picture of Soren actually paying attention to the book because anytime he sees the camera he just laughs and puts on his biggest smile.)
