Swimming Lessons

For the last two weeks Soren has been doing swimming lessons with a group of our friends, they are all around the same age.  The last two years we have done a mommy and me class at the rec center and we really enjoyed it (Soren LOVES the water).  This year if we had done lessons at the rec center again we would have had to do the same class for the third year and I just felt like Soren was ready to do a class on his own so he did lessons with a girl in our stake that is home from BYU for the summer.

Father Son Campout

Our ward had a father son campout.  We didn't really know about it until that morning so Richard, Soren and Jordan decided to just go up for the evening.  If they had known ahead of time they would have stayed the night, but we weren't prepared for that.  They had a great time and Soren was in heaven running around playing for the evening.  They went canoeing and Soren loved throwing rocks in the water.

Mother's Day in Austin

Sunday morning we got up and got some breakfast and headed out.  We were going to walk around the San Antonio temple but the grounds were closed so we just drove around it.  We headed to Austin to spend Mother's Day with Richard's family.  We got to Carolyn and Tyler's house and got set up to video chat with Justin and my family.  We had already told Richard's parents that I was pregnant on Friday, but today was the day to tell the rest of the family.  I should have gotten a picture of it, but I didn't think about it.  While were talking I told my family that Soren had a picture to show them and he held up a sign that said "Only Child, Expiring January 2015"  They were all very excited about the news.  We found out about a week before and had been keeping it a secret for our Mother's Day surprise.  

After a delicious dinner and a good time with Richard's family we headed back to Dallas.  I am happy to say that the drive home was smooth sailing!

San Antonio

We have been wanting to take a trip to San Antonio since we moved to Texas, we decided that Jordan's birthday weekend was the perfect time to go. So off we went.  

We left Dallas at about 2:30 for what was suppose to be about a 5 hour drive, well it turned out to be much longer than that.  To start there was some traffic getting in Dallas so we took a little detour around it.  Then we got to West, Texas (about 2 hours south of Dallas) and we hit MAJOR traffic.  It took us over an hour to get from West to Waco (typically about a 10-15 minute drive).  It was painful.  We finally got out of the traffic and started crusing.  We had been driving for maybe an hour when our tire blew out.  UGH!  By this time it was 7:00 and we started calling around places and most tire places were closed.  We found a place not too far from where we were, but when we got there they didn't have our tire.  So after talking about it for a bit (we were all really tired of being in the car at this point) we decided to just head to Richard's parents house (we were only about 40 minutes away) so we went there and got some dinner.  We were planning to spend the night there and get our tire fixed first thing in the morning before heading to San Antonio.  But his parents were so generous and offered us their car so we could just finish our drive that night and they would take our car to fixed for us.  So after being there for about an hour we headed out and finally made it to our hotel in San Antonio at about 11:30pm...NINE HOURS LATER!  It was brutal, but we were all very happy to finally be there.

In the morning we got up and ate breakfast, Jordan took Soren swimming for a bit before we headed out for the day.  When they got back I had decided that I wanted Jamba Juice (I was about 5 weeks pregnant at this time and nauseous already) so we drove quite a bit out of the way to find some Jamba Juice -- it was worth it.  :)  After we had our Jamba we headed to see the Spurs Arena.

After the Spurs arena we went and got lunch at Lulu's Cafe, it was a place that I heard about, they are famous for their 3 pound cinnamon rolls.  We had some delicious diner food and then we got a 3 lb cinnamon roll, yum.

After lunch we headed over to the Alamo district.  Before heading to the Alamo we walked around all the little shops in the area and of course we had to have some fun in the hat shop.

After the Alamo I needed to take a nap so we headed back to the hotel.  Apparently Soren needed a nap too, he fell asleep on the way back to the hotel and didn't budge for two hours.  We enjoyed our naps.  When Soren woke up the boys all went swimming for a bit while I worked up the energy to get moving for the evening.

We spent the evening at the Riverwalk, it was way cooler than we expected.  It was my favorite part of the trip.  We enjoyed walking around and had a yummy Mexican dinner.  Then we took the riverboat ride.  it was a really fun evening.

TRAINS

For Christmas, Soren got a figure 8 train set.  Recently, he has become obsessed with it, he plays with it for hours every day.  So we decided it would be fun to get him some more tracks, but they are pretty pricey. So I got on Craigslist and started searching.  We found somebody selling a HUGE bin of tracks and trains for a reasonable price.  All of the boys were excited, as soon as we got home they all went to work building a train track.  The tracks and trains in this picture are only a fraction of what we came home with.  The boy is in heaven.

Jordan's Mission Call

My brother, Jordan, received his mission call on May 3, 2014.  He has been called to serve in Salta Argentina.  His original MTC date was August 27th, but it has been changed to September 10th because the mission transfer dates have changed.  Justin (our brother in Brazil) gets home on August 13th, we are excited that they will be able to see each other!

I am so proud of Jordan and his decision to serve the Lord and the people of Argentina.
