Corpus Christi

For Memorial Day weekend we headed out on vacation with Richard's parents and his brother and his family.  Friday afternoon we drove down to Austin and spent the day there and then we all headed to South Padre Island Saturday morning.  Richard's parents drove in our car with us and it was so helpful to have them back there with the boys!  On the way to South Padre Island we took a short detour to the beach at Corpus Christi.  I decided not to get in the water because I didn't want to be all salty and sandy the rest of the drive (and quite frankly I do not enjoy swimming in water where I can't see what I am swimming with).  Soren was in HEAVEN jumping the waves with Richard, he had a big smile on his face the entire time, it was so cute to watch them.  The first thing Richard said when he got out of the water was, "that is the most fun I have ever had."  I love that they love each other so much.  Richard really cherishes these moments with the boys since he is usually at work when we do the "fun stuff".   Beckett touched the ocean for the first time and the experience was less traumatic than Soren's first time (he was just a bit older than Beckett was) because the water was much warmer.

Soren's Camera Skills

Soren LOVES to take pictures.  He takes tons of pictures on our phone anytime we let him.  He also likes to take pictures with the real camera, he knows he has to keep the strap around his neck.  He does a great job and gets some really good pictures sometimes.

Fishing Day

After one of Soren's blast ball games we headed over to the town fishing day.  They had been loaning out kid size fishing poles to use in the river, but by the time we got there that part was over.  But there was still a fun little fishing tank and a few other activities.  Richard and I don't fish so Rachelle (our friend and Richard's coworker) and her partner, Sabine, were kind enough to come with us so Soren could actually learn how to fish.  Funny story of the day:  Richard was helping Weston (Soren's friend) at the fishing tank and they weren't catching anything (small tank, FULL of fish).  So after Soren had caught his fish Rachelle moved over to help Weston and within 30 seconds he had caught a fish.  Soren had a great time catching the fish, but wouldn't get anywhere near it once it was out of the water.

A Beautiful Day

We have had a ton of rain this spring and there is no sign of it letting up.  So when we had a dry and beautiful Saturday we decided to take advantage of it and head down to Klyde Warren Park downtown with some friends.

Sidenote:  Beckett is a champ and just lays on a blanket happy as can be anytime we are at the park.

Day Out with Thomas

The Grapevine Historic Railroad does a "Day Out with Thomas" event every year.  We decided that this would be a great year to go, Soren loves trains and especially Thomas the Train!

We didn't tell Soren anything about it until we were on our way and I told him that we were on our way to his surprise.  The whole drive he kept saying "are we at my surprise yet?"  Needless to say he was excited.  The shuttled us from the parking lot to the train station and Soren thought the shuttle was his surprise and was thrilled to be on the bus.  (Wish we had known, we could have saved a lot of money!)  He is easy to please.  :)

When he saw Thomas out the window he was so excited, it was worth every penny.

After the train ride we went to Red Robin for dinner with our friends.
