Snow Day

We had our second snow storm of the season (really it could be called the first because the one in December was more like an ice storm).  It was COLD!  I may have grown up in Utah, but I have quickly acclimated to the warm weather, I am a cold weather wimp, I don't know how I survived in Utah!

Soren wanted to go outside, but I had no interest in getting all bundled up and going outside.  Luckily for Soren, Uncle JoJo was home from work and took him outside.  Soren is definitely a Texas boy, he was dying to go outside, but he only lasted a few minutes before he decided it wasn't worth it and came back inside.

This boy loves to be outside, we are ready for park weather!!

Dallas Art Museum

The Dallas Art Museum has lots of fun free activities for kids on the first Tuesday of each month.  We have heard about this from some friends, but never went.  This month we finally went and it was really fun!  They had a cute little craft for the kids to do and they had a little play area that Soren loved.  Then we went to story time.  It was neat to see them teach the kids about art in a fun way for the kids.

After we did those things we just walked around and explored for a bit.  Soren loves to color so he was thrilled when he found this little drawing station.

Urgent Care

This morning we got up and ate breakfast and then we were getting ready to go to the gym.  Soren likes to stand on the toilet while I get ready in the morning.  I was brushing my teeth when he slipped off of the toilet and hit his head on the edge of our scale (it is glass).  I picked him up trying to console him thinking he had just hit his head hard.  Then I realized I needed to check his head to make sure it hadn't split open, unfortunately it had.  I got a wet rag to try to stop the bleeding, but he was not having any of that.  So I yelled to Jordan that I needed his help.  He helped me get Soren into the car and we were off to Urgent Care.  It was such a blessing to have Jordan here to go with me and help with Soren while I got all of the paper work done.

They did not give him a numbing agent because at this age it is more work than it is worth.  Holding him tight while they cleaned it and put the staples in was MISERABLE, but luckily it was only like 2 minutes.  And as soon as it was over he was totally fine.  We just took the day easy and hung out.  He was great all day, every once in a while he would rub his head or point to his head and say "ow".  But if it wasn't for the big gash on his head you wouldn't have known anything was wrong.

I am so grateful for all the concerned messages and phone calls that I got from family and friends far away.  Grateful for the offers of help from friends close by.  Grateful for a husband that picked dinner up and brought it home so I could just focus on my boy.  And so grateful that my brother was here to help, I could not have done it on my own.

Preschool

We joined a co-op preschool with a few other mom's in our ward.  They started last week, but Soren was sick so today was his first day.  It is just once a week for 1 hour and 15 minutes.  I think that is just perfect for my cute little 2 year old.  I was worried about starting him so young (whether or not he would sit still and listen) since he is the youngest in the group.  But the mom in charge today said that he did great and stayed in his chair the whole time.  I can't believe my sweet baby has turned into this handsome little boy!

Zoo

Every January the Dallas Zoo has Penguin Days where admission is only $5.  This week we met some friends for church playgroup.  And Jordan had the day off so he went with us.  Soren loves Uncle JoJo and was so glad he made the trip with us.

Friends

One of my good friends had a baby at the end of December so a few weeks ago we had Soren's little friend over so she could get some things done with just the baby to worry about.

They are so cute together and they had so much fun.  They had fun playing with the ball for a while.  Then they took a break to eat snacks and watch Sesame Street.  After lunch they wandered off to Soren's room and I found them jumping on the bed, it was pretty funny to watch.
