Meeting Great Grandma and Great Grandpa

Last week Soren and I went to California to see my grandparents. They were so excited to meet him, my grandpa has been anxiously waiting to have a great grandchild and he couldn't be more excited that Soren has joined our family. We were originally planning on seeing them in Utah this summer when my brother leaves on his mission, but as my grandpa's health declines we decided it would be best to just go to California and see them. And I am glad we did!!! :D

5 Months

My sweet boy turned 5 months on my birthday. The first picture in this post is typical Soren, he can hardly stand to be on the floor without having his arms straight out like an airplane. And I finally managed to get a picture of him on his belly, but it took some real work, I have many failed attempts.

At 5 months:

-Soren can now purposely grasp objects which makes him enjoy his floor gym a lot more

-Always holds onto the turtle that is on his carseat

-Talks and smiles all the time (smiles the most at mom and dad)

-LOVES kisses, I can almost always get lots of smiles and giggles out of him by kissing him lots (his cousins kissed him goodnight last night while he was being babysat and he gave them big smiles when they were giving him kisses)

-Sits pretty well with support

-Went on his third trip and has his fourth trip coming up next week (he has been to Utah twice, New Hampshire once and we are going to California next week)

-Stares at us very intently as we eat

-Sleeps the same...at least it isn't worse...(except that it is worse right now, but only because he is sick)

-Finally got blessed!

-Getting soooo close to rolling from his back to stomach, gets onto his side easily but can't quite figure out how to tuck his arm (may be due to the fact that he likes to pretend he is an airplane...) and kick over his leg

-Takes 2 naps that are a little under 2 hours and 1 nap that is 30-60 minutes

-Sucks on anything he can get his hands on

-Can grab his pacifier and put it in his mouth, but he hasn't figured out how to let go of it, so it comes back out when he moves his hand

-Has discovered his feet, but can't quite get them to his mouth

-Is wearing 0-3 month and 3-6 month clothes (yes, I know he is 5 months...)

Birthday Girl

I only got one picture of the day, only because I was having too much fun to worry about taking pictures. The day started with Richard giving me some balloons, starbursts (my fave!) and a card. I opened the card to find a list of how the day was going to go.

Richard was able to get home from work a little bit early and I opened presents.

Then Richard arranged for his brother and sister-in-law to babysit while we went to dinner after work! It was fun to get out without Soren. Soren is such a good baby and goes to sleep so easily that we don't even have to worry about him when we go out (which is like...never). We went to a place called Gordo's, we found a groupon for an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. The food wasn't that great. The appetizer and the dessert were yummy, but the entrees were nothing special. But regardless of the quality of the food, we had a great time and it was great to get out and go on a baby free date! :)

Happy 24th birthday to me, it was a wonderful day, thanks to my two boys!

Just Because I Think My Boy is Really Cute

Babies

While we were in Utah we got to meet my new baby cousin Sienna. She is so adorable. I know they are the same size, but I promise Soren is two months older...he is just a little guy.

It's About Time...

We went to Utah for Richard's cousin's wedding and while we were there we blessed Soren...yes, it's late, but we (I) wanted to do it with family. Thank you to everybody who came and shared this special day with us! (PS...more pictures to come later, waiting for some pics taken by other people).
